Rainier Beach Coalition WordPress Website

Ongoing maintenance and optimization of a community nonprofit's WordPress site

Overview

The Rainier Beach Coalition is a community organization in Seattle’s Rainier Beach neighborhood. Its WordPress website is how neighbors, partners, and supporters find out what the coalition is doing and how to get involved, so it needs to be fast, easy to use on a phone, accessible, and easy to find in search.

Since July 2026 I’ve been the volunteer web developer for the site, maintaining and optimizing it alongside the coalition’s team.

My Role

  • Volunteer web developer – working directly with coalition stakeholders.
  • Responsible for site maintenance, performance, SEO, accessibility, and content updates.

What I Worked On

  • On-page SEO – Improved on-page SEO to help the site show up when people search for the coalition and its programs.
  • Performance – Improved Core Web Vitals, page speed, and overall site performance.
  • Responsive design – Implemented responsive design improvements so pages work well on phones and tablets.
  • Accessibility – Made accessibility enhancements so the site is usable by more of the community.
  • Content updates – Kept site content current as programs and events change.
